Frequently Asked Questions
What are we?
We are a background RENTAL company. We do
not sell backgrounds. All of our backgrounds
are hand-painted and/or airbrushed by artists
who work under our supervision.
Who can rent?
We only rent to
professional photographers. If
you’re a member of a prom committee, a
student advisor, or an interested parent, please
ask the professional photographer for your event
to contact us. Prices available upon request.
What is the difference between 3D
and 2D backgrounds?
Our 3D backgrounds, approximately 10’x 18’,
have painted floors which are part of the seamless
muslin background itself. Our 2D backgrounds,
approximately 10’ x 8’, do not have
a floor. (Some of the 2D thumbnails show
couples photographed full-length. In these
cases we added a separate floor which is not
part of the background. Photographers who
wish to use a 2D background full-length will
need to create their own floor.)
How many copies of any background
are available?
Click on any thumbnail. The
number of copies IN INVENTORY is listed.
How
can I order?
- Call or email us to confirm background(s)
availability for your event.
- Return completed order form to us.
- Your credit card will be charged approximately
2-3 weeks before your event.
How will I get my background?
We cover UPS ground shipping to you so that the
background arrives by Wednesday prior to your
weekend event. You are responsible for
shipping the background back to us so that it
arrives at our studio by Thursday following your
weekend event. (A complete shipping guide will
be enclosed with your background).
How do I take care of the background?
- Backgrounds can be suspended on background
poles and stands using alligator
clamps or gaffers’ tape. DO
NOT USE DUCT TAPE WHICH WILL LEAVE A
RESIDUE, REMOVES PAINT, AND IS RESPONSIBLE
FOR TEARS IN THE MUSLIN. Gaffer’s
tape is available at photo or theatrical
stores. An on-line source is CALUMET
Photographics (1-800-225-8638).
- Glitter sticks to the muslin. Before
folding the background for return, shake
the background (paint side down) vigorously
to remove glitter and dirt.
- Gum destroys a background. Many
backgrounds are returned with squished
wads of gum embedded in the fabric.
Please ask students to remove gum before
being photographed. Gum is almost impossible
to remove. If someone has left
gum on your rented background, do
not use a sharp object to remove
it. We have found that lighter fluid,
a rag, our fingernails, and great
patience will take care of most wads
of gum.
- Backgrounds arrive folded. Wrinkles
and creases can be effectively removed
with a steamer or iron. (A complete
Background Care Guide will be included
with your rental).
What are your recommendations for
lighting the backgrounds?
Almost
all images on our website
were taken with a three
light setup, using a
main light, a fill and
a hair light. Please email me
if you’d like details.
