Bridge at Sunrise

Item 2D040

Tourists to San Francisco inevitably complain that the Golden Gate Bridge isn't golden at all, but it was never supposed to be. The entrance of San Francisco Bay is called the "Golden Gate", and the bridge connects the northern tip of San Francisco with the southern tip of Marin County, crossing the "golden gate." In any case, the bridge is really rust-colored, and the combination of wind, rain, sun and omnipresent fog conspire to keep painters on the bridge year-round--that is, except for the day in which this photograph was taken. (Actually, the painters are down below, hidden in the fog. They were kind enough to get out of the way so we (could take this image)
